For the past x amount of years, we always had Thanksgiving at my in-laws. My MIL is a exquisite chef and began preparation about a week before Thanksgiving Day. The stuffing and side dishes were always beyond delicious and low fat, right Debi? Bill wasn't a shabby BBQer himself.. One Thanksgiving he bought a turkey fryer and had to test it out. I remember if I walked remotely close to his fryer he would warm me and make me walk FAR around it so I didn't get splattered.
Proud of his fried turkey {and always making funny faces}
One tradition that I began to love at my IL's Thanksgiving were thankful cards. My MIL printed cards out each year that everyone in attendance filled out. They began with "This year I'm thankful for.... " She stored all the cards in a book to set out each Thanksgiving for guests to reflect back on. I loved reading what everyone was thankful for over the years. It was especially nice to see a certain guest here and there who weren't regulars each year. I chuckled at some of the things I wrote on those cards over the past 8 years.. but this year I don't think I'm ready to fill one out.

Happy thanksgiving to you and your family! I know it will not be the same without your husband and FIL, but I still hope the day will bring happiness and love. Of course, also some yummy food.
Sweet and simple- this year you can be thankful for your little baby girl. Keep the tradition going, that sounds like a wonderful little book that reese and will are going to love reading one day.
Thinking and praying for you all today.
Erynn, I had to make sure to stop in and tell you that you and your family are especially in my prayers today. I know you are grateful for the love you and Patrick shared, and your two beautiful children - but I can't imagine how difficult each and every day is for you. May God's grace help you and your family to endure. I'm always sending prayers your way from across the country. xoxo.
Thinking of you and your family and praying so hard for all of you today.
Erynn,
Everyday - I look at your blog - checking for an update - waiting to see how you are. In fact, it's a bookmarked favorite of mine. Today's post gave me goosebumps - thank you for sharing your life with us. I can't begin to imangine how hard today and these next few "first" are going to be. Know that here in Wisconsin - I'm praying for strength for you.
Blessings,
Jenny
THE ROONEY FAM is definitely in my thoughts and prayers today, may you all have strength to get through these holidays
Erynn, wow what beautiful traditions. Keep them going for W and R. Keep it simple...Be thankful for your healthy kids! Happy Thanksgiving. Thinking of you and Debi! XX
It is a big BUT... Although he's not with you in body, he is in every other way. I'm sure you are thinking of all the good things but here are a few - Will, Reese, your healthy to care for them both, family, friends, God, love, joyful moments, home, running water in the home, nice weather, to name a few. Keep on smiling because there is a lot to smile about. Thinking of you!
Thinking of you today especially, but you know you and Debi and the whole fam are ALWAYS in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you can see today despite the roughest year you have ever had, how very lucky you are. You have the most amazing gifts from God and from Patrick, and its those beautiful babies. I hope they make you feel extra loved and thankful today when they smile at you or yell "MOMMY!!." And like you have said in the past, dont reflect on what you lost or dont have, today, be thankful for the WONDERFUL memories you and Patrick had over your 8 years together. I KNOW there are hundreds. Love you!! xo
Happy Thanksgiving E. Those cards sound like a wonderful idea. You can fill one out whenever you are ready. It doesn't matter if it is Thanksgiving or not.
And, as always, I love the pictures. Happy Thanksgiving to Patrick and Bill. I am sure they are frying up some turkey upstairs.
I will be thinking of you and the kids today! XOXO
My thoughts and prayers are with you today, especially. It's more than understandable that counting your blessings is followed by a "but". I hope today you can just focus on the two little miracles you and P. made together, and that it eases the sting of this day somewhat.
Keeping you in my prayers today and always. The Lord has plans for you and your children he so richly gave you. Look to him for your strength today and always. It is the only way you will make to through the day or your life ahead of you.
Erynn, you and your Family have been in my thoughts all day.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you and your family had a wonderful time together today! Thinking and praying for you all!

Hope you made it through today ok. I'm thinking of you.
All of you were in my thoughts and prayers yesterday . . . and again, today. I know the holidays are tough when you are missing loved ones. Be gentle with yourself and do what feels okay to you. Don't force yourself to do things that you think you "should," do what feels okay to you.
My family, friends and I all had you and your family in our thoughts yesterday.
Erynn, your sweet memories of our Thanksgivings together makes me laugh and cry at the same time. How can that be? How can sweetness and sorrow exist on the same page? It does and it's so strange! Thankfulness is difficult right now but I'm surely thankful for you! xoxo
Erynn.......what sweet memories! I'm trying so hard to be thankful for them but it's so hard! I love it when you remind me! xoxo
