This time last year I was due in about 2 weeks with Reese. She was due on St. Patrick's Day and I was doing anything in my power to make that happen. She had other ideas. Delivering Reese, without Patrick holding my hand, by my side, cutting the cord, was one of my biggest fears post accident. I felt like I had held it together pretty well for the previous 2 months for someone who was 7.5 months pregnant and lost the most important person in her life. I was afraid of the questions, I was afraid of the emotions, I was afraid that I wasn't going to bond with her due to the circumstances. My mind flashed back to pictures of Patrick and I in the delivery room before Will's arrival and after. I just remember the proud smile that never left his face. I wouldn't have any of those with Reese's birth.
I had a pretty long labor the second time around but had tons of family and friends surrounding me. When my Dr., who was off that day but came in for me, said it was time to push, I broke down into tears. Usually women are overcome with excitement at this moment. I, on the other hand, didn't want to go forward. It's one thing to lose your husband, but then to have to do all of this without him? Reese was out in 8 minutes/3 pushes. She redeemed herself for the long labor. My little 7 pounds 6 ounce bundle of sassiness was born at 10:37pm.

Happy Birthday week, baby girl!
