Monday Memories

Will's birthday is New Year's Eve (fun 21st birthday for him, right?). It being his 1st birthday this past NYE, it was important that Patrick and I spend & celebrate the day with Will, on his actual birthday.

So on December 31, 2008 Patrick & I took Will to Downtown Disney for to celebrate as a family. We decided to eat at Rainforest Cafe thinking Will would enjoy the animated animals and realistic sounds. Every so many minutes the restaurant experiences a loud, interactive rainstorm, as the rain begins to pour, thunder roars and the animals come to life.

Will wasn't ready for the 1st rainstorm.

He preferred checking out the fish with dad.
They didn't make as much noise.

but truely, he'd just rather stick his fingers in daddy's mouth. Cheap entertainment!
This is my fav pic from Will's 1st birthday.

I remember that day. Patrick took of from work, when he left the day before he was so excited about Will's birthday. He was like a little kid =)

Hi Erynn,

It's nice to find you. I'm so sorry about Patrick. I read your blog back through January and it is such a difficult story.

We definitely share many commonalities, especially since my husband died unexpectedly in Jan (07) and our son was born in March, so I know what it is like to be very pregnant and grieving. It is awful.

You are nearby (I'm in Brea) so if you'd ever like to get together, I'm here. Reece is 2 so he can show Will the ropes.

In case you are interested or become interested, there is a young widows support group at Mariposa center in Orange, near Mainplace mall. The group meets weekly and it is wonderful. I went for a long time, until a few of us formed a "veterans" group of young widows who are over a year out from our losses.

A lot will change for you this year, and a lot already has. I don't envy you now, but I can tell you that it does get better. One day, you'll realize you're ok. And then on another day, you'll realize you're happy. It takes a long time, but it will happen.

Much love,
Melodie
