9 years ago this fall...

we met on the campus of our high school.

I remember this week so vividly. School started on a Wednesday and by Friday I was already missing class and off to the river with my family. On that same Friday Patrick transfered into my math class. I showed up to class on Monday to find him sitting 2 rows too many away from me. My face probably lit up like a christmas light when I realized he was in my class. My best gf at the time was lucky enough to be sitting in the seat in front of him. That worked to my advantage.

Rewind 2 years. As a freshman girl on the campus of nearly 5K {yes, you read right} students... you can imagine the eye candy everywhere I looked. I spotted Patrick, with his black & orange Forum backpack, as he walked his then gf to the bridge, kissed her and hurried off to his own class. What a sweet guy. At that time, I didn't know his name or anything about him. I just thought he was cute, along with the rest of the male population at our school.

Back to September 2000.
Last I remembered was him walking his gf around campus and thinking how cute I thought they were. I wrote my gf a note in our joint math class telling her I thought he was cute. She then looks at me, turns to him and asks, "Patrick, are you still with your gf?" He replied no and her eyes met mine without turning her head. Sahhhweeet!

Of course word got around and back to him. Good thing it did. He came up to my after one of our math classes within the next week or two. Our very 1st conversation as we walked to our next class went something like this.

P: "Hey, so you know so and so." {withholding name}
Me: "Oh yeah!" while thinking to myself I was going kill the person for telling P what I thought of him.
P: "What are you doing this weekend? "
Me: "Ohhh, um going out with my girlfriends." Terrified he was going to ask me out, I asked, "You?"
P: "Going on a baseball visit to UCI."
Me: internal PHEW! Although I'm sure I was wishing he was really asking me out.

He proceeded to walk me to my next class and from then on we became friends!
We went on our 1st date to Wood Ranch BBQ and to see a movie, Urban Legends II. I am not a big movie person, I usually fall asleep... but hey any movie will do for this cute guy I had a major crush on!

to be continued...

Hi! We've never met, but this post struck a cord with me! When I was a freshman, Patrick was a senior. I thought he was the cutest senior on campus!!! I had a minor crush, but I'm sure he didn't even know who I was. I used to see you and him walking together and thought the two of you were the sweetest. Awww... the h.s. memories!!!
